This post will give you tips for taking online GATE examination. What to do before exam, on exam and after completing online exam [GATE,CAT, IBPS, CMAT]. As one of our visitor ask for tips while taking GATE online Exam. So, here is some of the tips you should mind while you taking multi choice online competitive examination.

Before i start writing some of the tips, i want to introduce with the online examination demo test. Where you can see who to answer, how to jump and how to set reminder for the particular question to answer later on. Yes, there are several benefits of taking online exam like:-
  1. You Do not have to keep eye on watch. There will be time counter which will let you know the time left for the test. That saves lots of time to keep watching on your Watch.
  2. You can remark particular question if you feel that you need more time to solve and answer that question. So, you can easily mark it, it will be highlighted with different color.
  3. Save time to tick answer, just click and move to next question. Unlike, pen paper MSQs question book, where you have to use HB pencil to answer questions.

  1. Practice to Read Online :- Many students find difficulty to read while on screen. As they are not familiar with the online examination or computer.So, try to read on screen newspapers, essay, articles daily as much as you can.

    if you have power on your eye then you may need little more time to read on screen, and for such aspirants, i request them to read online as much as you can, as it will be problematic to them in exam.
  2. Read the Instruction :- Before starting the Test, read the instruction carefully. There are some of the tips for you and instructions for how to answer the questions. On the instruction, they will let you know with the basic knowledge about the test [no of questions, total time, how to answer etc].
  3. Avoid minimizing, maximizing, resizing or a launching a new Internet browser window or clicking on other course links during the exam. Ensure that the exam window is maximized before starting.

    That's all distraction,  just stop it and keep your focus on exam, its all about your career, be serious while on the exam.
  4. If an exam must be taken in a specific time window, do not wait until the last minute to take it.

    Should something go wrong, there may not be enough time to resolve the issue before the deadline.
  5. In case of Power Failure or any other technical fault, ask the authority immediately. Do not panic, as your answers won't unanswered you will get your test from the time you left.
  6. DO NOT use the browser's Back and Forward buttons or the Scroll Wheel on your mouse to move through questions; instead use the provided arrow keys and/or window side scroll bars to navigate.
  7. Students can switch over to any questions from one section to another many times while giving examination.
     
  8. If the exam is configured to display one question at a time, DO NOT click the Next button more than once.
  9. Once an answer is selected, approximately 7 seconds later the question will be automatically saved and the button next to the answer will change from “Save Answer” to “Saved”. (See examples below).

    With this automatic save feature, it is no longer necessary to manually save each question or use the Save All button periodically while taking the exam.
  10. If you do not submit the answers with in time limit, the system will automatically save the answers. So, do not worry if you fail to submit the answers.
  11. Read the question before you look at the answer. Do not make decision in hurry, stay calm and read carefully.
  12. A positive choice is more likely to be true than a negative one. Usually the correct answer is the choice with the most information.
     
  13. Create Mind MAPs for reasoning question and short mathematics questions. For definition type of questions also you can create mind maps to answer quickly.
  14. In "All of the above" and "None of the above" choices, if you are certain one of the statements is true don't choose "None of the above" or one of the statements are false don't choose "All of the above".  :)
  15. Don't keep on changing your answer, usually your first choice is the right one, unless you misread the question. Mark for review and move on to next.
