[Study Plan] SSC Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and Grade ‘D’ Exam - Books and Tips to Crack SSC Exam

SSC has just announced the recruitment notice for recruitment of  SSC Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and Grade ‘D’. Interested candidates can apply for the exam online and offline via http://ssconline.nic.in/ [online portal of SSC] on or before 26th October, 2013. More information about the notification is posted here by SSC.

There are lots of candidates are going to apply for the SSC jobs as its a government jobs plus eligibility criteria is just 12th [10+2] pass out require to appear in the SSC stenographer exam. if you are interested in this exam then you can also go for this exam and get government job now.

1. Understand the Exam Syllabus

Luckily, SSC has provided the exam syllabus for the Stenographer exam. And as per the syllabus, there are 3 subjects, 1 General Intelligence and reasoning, 2. general awareness and 3.English grammar with reading comprehension. Also, there is one more practical test called Skill Test in which is nothing but the typing test.

Below is the Time limit for the SSC Stenographer Grade Test.

For Stenographer Grade ‘D’ 50 minutes (English) and 65 minutes (Hindi).
For Stenographer Grade ‘C’ 40 minutes (English) and 55 Minutes (Hindi).

2. Collection of eBooks

In SSC Stenographer syllabus, for General Intelligence and reasoning subject, they have mentioned that they will ask questions based on analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis. For General Awareness Subject, Do read newspapers, TV channels and latest blogs on current affairs like [Times of india, Indian express, Aajtak etc.] which can provide you news about Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity. if you still need book then read the below mentioned link, where i have provided the books for latest current affairs, but i still recommends you to read newspapers a lot. That will help you to improve your Grammar and Reading Comprehension.

For English Grammar and Reading comprehension, i have provided eBooks which link is mentioned below, plus you can also get more Books about this on Google. For Reading comprehension, as mentioned above read English news papers as much as you can. That will help you to improve the grammar as well as your reading speed.

3. Solved Exam Paper of SSC Stenographer Exam

4. Revision 

Revision is most important as it will give you speed and accuracy. if you are not forgetting than there is 0.25 of negative marking in SSC Stenographer Exam. Keep revise your self for 4-5 time with the question paper and model question paper. Solve them again and again, make time table do better time management and always try to achieve less time to solve the question paper, as much as you can.

The Exam Date of SSC Stenographer is 29th December,2013, still you have enough time to prepare for the exam, easily.

      Stenographer is kind of Typewriter. You will get Government job [Central Govt] for Stenographer after clearing This exam. you can read the official doc for placement after getting job.

  3. do i need any typing certificate for appearing in typing test?

  4. No You don't have to get any typing certificate for appearing in the typing test. just clear the written exam and go on to the final typing test. That is actually a skill test where you have to learn shorthand and typing both. i have been there once but because of shorthand i could not clear the skill test part.. and i to want to know in how much time can we learn shorthand atleast just to clear this exam.

    i have some query:
    1) my dob is 14/1/1986, can i apply for the exam?
    2) i dont know typing through type-writer but expert in typing in computer, am i eligible for practical test?

    My name is Dileep, I have choose skill test stenography in hindi , i don't knew that this is only typing test during form fill up time ..Can i change it , because i am expert in English typing , but not speed in hindi .

  10. sir my name is Vinay. I know that I can clear the written exam easily because I have cleared this exam earlier but till now I haven't got enough knowledge about shorthand . So please help me and please tell me that what is Shorthand exactly and how to get trained in shorthand?

Thanks for this info vicky. i'm preparing for SSC Grade 2014 nd would be glad if u could suggest some books for preparation of written test. i'm practicing shorthand from Sir Kailash Chandra Transcriptions but it would be a great help if u could provide some additional info about the language dictated in the skill Test too. Thanks alot.

  15. I have qualified for skill test.I want to know abt shorthand. I had bought pitman's shorthand book.but that I cannot understand. I want to know that I have to write in that way only or I can use shortcutsfor words which we use in msg typing.

    112 marks i calculated with d answer keys... obc category

    short hand means should we type in computer r write short notes
